The world of Naruto once stayed in harmony with little need for ninja except each village plotted and planned, forming secret alliances and planning to destroy others. A 3 way alliance was formed between Konohagakure, Kirigakure and Sunagakure and they planned secretly to deal with Iwagakure and Kumogakure. Originally Otogakure was a part of this alliance but it told the other two being targeted about this plot. A war broke out, minor lords and villages siding with whoever they thought would win. This event was known as The Kaerichuu or act of betrayal.
The Grass country sided with the three way alliance and the Waterfall country and Rain country sided with Kumogakure and Iwagakure leading to an all out war between the ninja villages. Sunagakure advanced into the bird country and fought Iwagakure at the Earth country's southern border.
Konohagakure moved out and destroyed the Sound Village in the Rice field country, obliterating it as soon as the news of their betrayal was known. They then moved into the Lightning country, advancing onto Kumogakure. Kirigakure also invaded from the coastline. Kumogakure held against the attack and in it managed to kill the Hokage and Mizukage who had led the attack but died by using up too much of his strength and died also while the Kazekage was killed on the original assault on Iwagakure and the Tsuchikage died defending his village and repelling the invaders.
This led to a time of turbulent peace with new Kages being elected to uphold it. Though all secretly planning for war, they kept peaceful visages. Who will be the first to strike and will this peace last?
Many ninjas have their own ambitions and missing nins are becoming more frequent. There have been rumours of a group of missing nin, working behind the scenes of the last war, are they still seeking to implement their vile plans or are the rumours unfounded.
Will you be the catalyst that starts the war or will you be a defender of the unstable peace?
